This ongoing collection of works share an expressionistic style which I begun to explore at the beginning of the pandemic. Contrary to all my previous experience as an artist of acute likeness and accuracy, this series has challenged me to tune into a very different (and very expansive) region of creative 'thinking'. By using the strong wave of feelings invoked by lockdown, I explored the very new sensation of painting with the spontaneous and abstract nature of raw emotion. It feels like another type of freedom, for it has required transcending the limitations of mind, such as rules, expectation and perfectionism, which contribute to conditioned thought towards the perception of a fixed reality.

Freedom of expression is crucial for our individual and collective evolution, because it utilises our higher faculties that see beyond the blinkered perception of personalised, subjective reality. When we express from this place, we offer alternative dimensions to the way life can be viewed and conducted, thus providing opportunities for change.
